With a life-long interest in construction and architecture, Mr. Lindsley became involved in almost every facet of the construction industry by working in sales, construction, and installation. In 1994 he founded Lindsley Waterproofing,
a residential foundation waterproofing and structural repair company - www.lindsleywaterproofing.com .

Many of the structural problems that Lindsley Waterproofing ended up correcting had been caused by botched home additions - some of those had actually resulted from ill-advised designs by architects.

Even when a home addition had not caused structural issues or water/drainage problems, Mr. Lindsley had witnessed the many months of pain, mess, and stress families were being put through just in getting that addition to their house completed. There had to be a better way!

In late 1998, Mr. Lindsley began thinking of ways that enlarging housing for humans could be as painless as it is for snails—spiraling, not sprawling. Hundreds, if not thousands of hours at the drawing board gave birth to Spiral Incremental Construction.

On February 10, 2004, Patent # US 6,688,055 B2 was awarded to James A. Lindsley of Durham, NC.  
On October 16, 2008, SpirInCo was incorporated by the State of North Carolina.
